Buy a domain

You might think you’re done, but designing a website doesn’t stop once you publish it. Nothing’s ever perfect from the get-go, so you’ll need to monitor your site’s performance and request feedback regularly. Once you’ve settled on a template, you can begin to tailor your website with relevant pages. Most templates come with a selection of pages already built in, including a homepage, about page, and contact page – these are the essential three. Now, you need a font style to complement your website’s tone of voice and color palette.

A beautiful addition to regular correspondence, it is also ideal for party invitations, thank-you notes and important announcements. The stamp features a horizontal graphic illustration of brilliantly colored flowers rendered in ink and gouache paint. It’s finally time to check everything’s in working order before you publish your site. After adding your pages and content, you need to think about optimizing your site design. A well-optimized site improves the overall user journey and helps search engines, like Google, look favorably on your site. You’ll also need a domain name – this makes your website appear professional and helps repeat visitors recognize your website.

We recommend asking your family, friends, colleagues, or even the general public to test the site in preview mode. This is a great way to get fresh eyes on your design, pages, and content. By this point, you’ll have worked closely on the site for some time, so you’re less likely to spot errors or notice any issues when navigating the site you’ve designed. You’ve got a clear vision, you’ve established your brand identity, you’ve chosen a template, added pages, and optimized your content.

The round shape of the stamps, as well as shadowing and reflection effects, give the appearance of three-dimensional pinback buttons. The pane verso features an illustration of a round silver button back with pin fastener repeated 20 times, one for each pinback button stamp shown on the front of the pane. Before delving into the role of AI in website design, it’s essential to understand the evolution of this field. In the early days of the internet, websites were basic and static, primarily consisting of text and images. However, as technology advanced, so did the expectations of internet users.

The company, along with leading external industry experts, continues to monitor the internet and dark web to determine if data has been published. There were 22 screenshots, allegedly from exfiltrated files, some containing PHI and PII, posted for about a week on the dark web by a malicious threat actor. As with any major milestone, it’s useful to pause for some self-reflection over a year’s worth of progress and lay out our goals for the year ahead. Differentiates real visitors from automated bots, ensuring accurate usage data and improving your website experience.

To recap, you first want to understand your website’s goals and prep your materials, such as brand assets and content. Alternatively, you could reach out to engaged visitors, customers, and friends to see what they think needs some work. Requesting regular feedback is a necessary step for website owners if they want to keep on top of pain points or issues. A modern or more playful website might want to explore abstract or quirky fonts instead. Website builders, like Wix, offer a variety of fonts to choose from when editing, so you can easily test things out before committing to a style.

Lastly, continuously practice web design, seek feedback, and stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies. For example, if an adaptive design detects low bandwidth or the user is on a mobile device instead of a desktop device, it might not load a large image (e.g., an infographic). Instead, it might show a smaller summary version of the infographic. Here is our comparison of the best email marketing services for small business. If not, you can cozy up your space with a few accessories—like a teak bath stool or a wooden bath mat. Pairing different patterns can get daunting, but if you love the way prints look, try committing to one and filling your space with it. “If you’ve fallen in love with a certain fabric or wallpaper, find out if the manufacturer carries other products in the same pattern,” Pyarali says. Getting playful with your décor choices doesn’t only mean picking vibrant colors and bold prints. “I like to have at least one light fixture that stands out—whether it's 1-2 large pendants over a kitchen island or a unique vanity light in the bathroom," she says. Keep an eye out for storage ottomans, nesting tables, or benches with built-in drawers. The glamorous touches continue in the ensuite bath, where Sabatella added a custom mirror-tiled tub that plays off the vintage French tile floor. Maria Videla-Juniel turned the primary bath into a sumptuous retreat with hues of soft blue and brown. Thibaut wall coverings and fabrics were used for the walls and windows, and the elegant shagreen-covered vanities are accented with gleaming fixtures by P.E. Buying a living room set is like surrendering to the furniture gods—taking the easy and visually boring way out.

Their work is known for blending minimalistic architecture and classical proportions with carefully selected classic antiques and exquisite furnishings, creating tranquil and yet boldly sophisticated environments. All-white interiors may be all the rage these days, but don’t be afraid to bring color into your space. “But, adding pops of color throughout your home gives your eyes a place to land.” Invest in some colorful furniture—or at the very least, some colorful accessories. It’s reasonable to switch up your palette from room to room, but try to keep at least one color consistent throughout your space to create more visual harmony. Dormer recommends sticking to one wall color or one-floor design and using furniture to switch things up from there. “Black tile is unexpected and wears well in public spaces,” the Novogratz team says.

11 Front Yard Landscaping Ideas to Boost Your Homes Curb Appeal

front of house landscaping ideas

This creates the perfect foundation to create a front yard you'll love. There's nothing like bringing in colorful plants and flowers to add to the overall quaintness of your front lawn. Small city properties aren't limited to foundation shrubs and postage-stamp lawns. The front yard landscaping idea here features a layered look with a variety of sizes and shapes for an eye-catching landscape. Mix groundcovers, grasses, evergreens, annuals, and perennials to create a planting that looks good all year.

Hanging Planters

Pop a neat garden chair or bench in amongst the planting and you have the perfect spot for some quiet contemplation. Train and tie these plants onto tension wires or sturdy wooden or metal trellis. If this isn't an option, why not opt for a cordon or espaliered tree instead?

Coordinate the Colors

Trees growing close to and over the arbor and path provide a virtual outdoor ceiling. Irregular-sized stacked stone pieces form a casual border for the flowerbed. A tall stretch of latticework offers additional privacy for the front yard just before the path ends at the sidewalk. A trio of Japanese maples provides visual texture; once full-grown, they'll create a delightful canopy over the path. Ornamental grasses, selected for their deep shade of green and unfussy form, play off the contemporary design.

Create an Avenue of Trees

You may mix them with evergreen bushes for a pop of color while keeping your space green throughout the seasons. A simple color scheme—shades of green and white—highlights the simplicity of the walkway. A pair of stacked limestone columns marks the transition from the walkway to the doorway. The walkway exudes modern style with large, regularly spaced pavers interspersed with crushed rock. Scents and blooms steal the show along this lushly planted, curving walkway.

Front Yards That Balance Privacy With Curb Appeal

While straight, wide garden path ideas leading up to the front door create a formal impression, they can still be inviting. For an unexpected take on typical front yard landscaping ideas, get a little strategic about your grassy areas. Landscape designer Fernando Wong pulled out all the stops, from manicured box hedges to pristine flowerbeds. By sticking with leafy greens – and adding a few pops of white buds – this front yard is elegant without being too restrained.

Put Out Pots of Flowers

Grow space-saving succulents and cacti or native plants that don't need much water. Instead of grass, cover your soil with attractive landscaping rocks, crushed stone, pebbles or gravel. Also, knowing your plant hardiness zone will allow you to determine which plants grow best in your part of the world. A technique called xeriscaping entails using drought resistant grass mixes, native plants and drought-resistant plants to keep your landscape thriving with little water. This landscaping idea for a front yard relies on no-fuss design and pretty plant accents. Dark gray pebbles surround paving stones for a no-mow, easy-care landscape accent.

Flowering plants are a great way to make your front yard more attractive. Adding color, texture and greenery to your space, flowering plants can breathe new life into your front yard landscaping ideas. Making our gardens more drought resistant is a great way to achieve a characterful and verdant space without the hassle and environmental challenges of regular watering.

Add flower beds to bring charm to your entrance

Your front yard, regardless of its size, plays an important role in your home’s overall curb appeal. Attractive landscaping, however, requires more than just a beautiful lawn. The front yard should also include hardscaping features, from walkways and driveways to raised beds, planters, and decorative containers. To learn more, we reached out to Dorian Winslow, certified landscape designer and owner and president of Womanswork, an online retailer of gardening apparel and supplies. For instance, use low-growing shrubs, grasses and flowering plants to repeat the horizontal lines of a ranch-style house.

Pebbles and Plantings

Updating the hard-landscaping in your front yard is another great way to make it more attractive. For a front yard that puts Mother Nature in the spotlight, embrace your space’s natural features. Here, architectural and design firm Ike Kligerman Barkley planted tall grass and leafy greens around the yard’s large rocks. Paired with a wide, stone walkway, this front yard strikes a balance between organic and manmade – and, importantly, echoes the materials of the exterior of the house for a cohesive look.

Play around with the layout of the blocks to create small planters and a large main bed. Landscaping the front of a house is all about creativity and making use of available resources. Convert your old bicycle into a planter and transform it into a point of attraction for your front yard. They are a chance to get creative and make them a focal point of your entrance.

A lick of paint and some choice plants and accessories can be all that's required for a few simple Mediterranean garden ideas. Replacing a few stone slabs with sun-loving creepers such as ajuga, thyme, stonecrop or New Zealand burr can make a huge difference. Fast-growing and drought-tolerant, these miniature beauties all form dense, compact flowering mats that will handle being crushed occasionally and re-root easily in gravel.

They have ample bed space, so you can design the planter and plant multiple types of flowers in one wheelbarrow. You may shape the flowers to look like a cage for a more outstanding design. Floral borders are an excellent landscaping choice for houses that are on the market for sale. They are the first thing that potential buyers will see once they get to your property. And with proper care, the design will increase the house value and speed up the sale process. Most importantly, landscaping promotes eco-friendliness and adds to your privacy.

An imaginative mix of evergreen grasses, white flowering leucanthemum, and valerian create a relaxed and contemporary feel – perfect for brightening a part-shady spot. Hardy and happy growing in poor soils, they also need very little care and attention. If you're looking for front yard landscaping ideas that are truly elegant – and low maintenance – give your home a memorable and majestic first impression with a structured planting.

If it faces east or west, it may get searing sun for part of the day and then no sun for the remainder. Be sure to include some fragrant varieties to add to your landscape's sensory appeal. If you have an unattractive driveway, use a border such as this to partially hide it from view.

Mistletoe Nail Ideas

You have the green and red to make it Christmas official but then Grinch takes central stage by making one of your green nails his face. If you want to use it on longer nails, preferably stick to an oval shape. This style may not fit into fancy events, but if you’re a relaxed and fun person it will brighten up your day-to-day life. Alternatively, silver or red tips would also look amazing, but keep in mind that French tips may not work to everyone’s liking if you prefer a stiletto shape. This could just be a simple red manicure, but it’s Christmas, so you need to add at least a little hint of it to your nails. A little peeking penguin on your ring finger will do just the trick, and it’s adorable.

Simple Tree

This nail design features an adorable little elf along with red tips and silver glitter, making this design as Christmassy as can be. Just like you can add a little element to plain colored nails, you can do it with some classic French tips. This look looks better with Santa over other characters like reindeers or gingerbread men since Santa’s beard would go on the tip, it looks almost like an extension to the French tip. Although french tips aren’t the best fit for stiletto nails, this particular design would work really well because it would appear like it’s the shape of the beard.

Orange Snowflake Nails

The Olive & June Party Pants shimmer is worth a try when recreating the festive tips. Go for a sparkly, yet clean look with gold glitter micro tips. It features a sheer, nude polish and silver gems at the base of each nail. Painted with polish from Lights Lacquer and Essie, this design features a stack of red, brown, and gold in a subtle swirl nail tip design. Chic and simple, this design features sprigs of greenery along with solid green nails. It's the perfect look if you want something Christmasy that can be done quickly.

Silver frosted French tips bring the holiday sparkle in all the best ways. These hologram nails remind us of pretty icicles and will still look on trend for New Year’s Eve. Holly used to be a symbol of fertility in Celtic culture, but since then Christians have adopted the holly tree as a symbol of Christmas. The sharp leaves symbolize the thorns on the crown Jesus wore, and the red berries represent his blood.

Christmas-Tree Nail Art For 2023 - POPSUGAR

Christmas-Tree Nail Art For 2023.

Moving into the heart of the holiday season, let’s turn our attention to traditional poinsettia patterns that can add a classic touch to your festive nails. Imagine a festive mani featuring tiny Christmas trees painted in lush green and white hues on your short square nails. These Christmas nail art designs are sure to make your winter nails the talk of the season.

Try this one in red and black or even red and green for added Christmas flair. Nail artist Jessica Reohr jazzes up an all-red manicure with pops of glitter for the holidays. Here's proof that multicolored Christmas lights can brighten up a creamy neutral polish.

Polish change (Hands)

This is perfect for all occasions if you like to have a mix of different styles rather than sticking to just one. Plus, the colors are neutral enough that it works with every skin tone. You can adapt this design to any length and shape you wish but it would work better with longer nails. The key to making your Christmas mani feel even more festive (without looking gaudy) is to start with a glitter base coat, rather than finish with a glitter top coat. The only thing more Christmas-y than regular ornaments is glitter ornaments. These ornament (and reindeer!) accent nails are an elevated take on basic Christmas nail art, thanks to its sheer base and shimmery, dark-red polish.

Red Plaid

design for christmas nails

If you want a mix-and-match design that isn't too loud, this design is perfect. It features a red-and-white plaid, solid red polish, and a simple holly design. Carry the trendy checkered design into Christmastime using a festive shade like this shimmery green polish. A bright red serves as the base of this look, which features white stars and snowflakes for a pretty, wintery design. In addition to mixing polishes this look also mixes finishes. Two shades of green are both topped with a matte finish that allows the glittery nails to really shine.

I love this iteration with deep red, black, and silver, but any combo of festive shades will do. While these red-and-green nails are unmistakably Christmas-themed, they’re also not so obvious that you’ll feel the need to scrub them off on December 26. Feel free to swap in shades or tones you prefer more, like a candy-cane red, a deep emerald green, or even a crisp, winter-y blue.

Each nail begins with a pale pink base and is decorated with red and gold glitter French tips, except for the ring finger, which has white, red, and gold swirls. Add a little green glitter to your neutral nails for a festive touch! These nude nails are decorated with a V-shaped French tip, with one side in white polish and the other in green glitter polish. Then the middle and ring fingers also feature a little white snowflake. If you love a classic red mani for the winter season but want to give it some holiday pizzazz, take note of these stunning Christmas nails.

This style effortlessly turns the simplest things into fashion statements, and is great for those who like square-shaped nails. This design features a nude background on every nail but then adds a different element of Christmas to each one. If you are detail-oriented and enjoy admiring everything individually rather than looking at the big picture, then this style would be a great choice for you. If you love to add jewels to your nails, then this one is for you. This style combines uneven red french tips with some spark, pearls, and fake diamonds. There is no doubt that this is the perfect choice for swanky Christmas parties.

If you’re looking for a way to amp up your holiday style, adding a touch of festive glitter to your acrylic nails can instantly dial up the glam. So, unleash your creativity, experiment with these acrylic Christmas nail designs, and make this festive season a memorable one. These gold and green nails work for both the Christmas season and any New Year celebrations with a glamorous look. The glossy, emerald green nails each feature gold flecks along one side of the nails adding an opulent touch. A bold candy cane nail design is the perfect amount of holiday kitsch for the festive-loving nail crowd.

A tiny little star, or several, is always a good addition to any nail design. The 3 Wise Men followed the star of Bethlehem to find baby Jesus, so it is customary to have one on top of your tree to symbolize light and guidance. Christmas is, without a doubt, most people’s favorite holiday. What’s there not to like about food, presents, lights, and time with those we love the most? There are people who don’t like Christmas, but if you’re here you’re likely in love with the holiday season. Even super-short nails can get in on the nail art party with classic tree trimmings, like these round ornaments that fit perfectly on even the smallest nail beds.

You could opt for a minimalist, single tree design on a neutral base, or go all-out, decking your nails with a forest of multi-coloured trees. Metallic gold and silver styles are waiting to make your holiday manicure unforgettable. You might want to consider candy cane striped nails for a sweet and festive twist on your Christmas manicure. This nail art is the epitome of a winter manicure, bringing the beauty of Christmas winter right at your fingertips. This gorgeous manicure has a minimalist, Scandi aesthetic that is just so stylish at the moment.

Tilghman plans to invest substantial funds into the dilapidated club and needs Dalton's highly regarded skills to tackle the endemic violence and rough customers. Dalton agrees in exchange for full authority over the club's operations, immediately firing several employees for poor behavior, theft, and drug dealing. For privacy, Dalton stays in a sparse barn owned by a farmer Emmett, unaware that the mansion across the adjacent lake is owned by Brad Wesley, a crime lord controlling the town through bribery, intimidation, and violence.

Release

Road House has achieved cult status and was voted as the most watched film on cable in 2020.[5][6] A sequel titled Road House 2 was released in 2006 and a remake with the same name was released in 2024. They're reportedly looking to lock up a major name to direct the "Road House" reboot as well, with "The Bourne Identity," and "Edge of Tomorrow" helmer, Doug Liman, eyeing the director's chair. Of course, with the film's shooting script still not up to snuff, and its behind-the-camera talent still taking shape, it's anybody's guess when the "Road House" reboot will actually shoot, let alone when it will be released.

Casting

As we've seen from his earlier movies, the best of which include The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, Liman is a more-than-capable director of action. The bar brawls here are well choreographed and cleanly shot, and the fighting encompasses everything from intimate fisticuffs to grander-scale set-pieces. Probably my favorite performance is given by a hungry crocodile who makes short work of one of the more annoying members of the cast and gives the movie some authentic Florida flavor.

At his most winning despite his character’s lethal nature, Gyllenhaal keeps up the one-liners and drollery. In lieu of Swayze’s Zenlike musings, he gives us dry inquiries about whether his challengers have medical insurance before pummeling and delivering them to a hospital. At the Road House, Dalton fends off a motorcycle gang working for local crime boss Ben Brandt and personally drives the injured thugs to the hospital, where he meets Ellie, a doctor who tends to his injuries.

The concrete walls and sliding canvas panels made novel use of industrial materials, while the open floor plan integrated the external environment into the residence, setting a precedent for California architecture in particular. Terrell Smith has a diverse writing background having penned material for a wide array of clients including the federal government and Bravo television personalities. When he’s not writing as Terrell, he’s writing under his pseudonym Tavion Scott, creating scripts for his audio drama podcasts. Terrell is a huge fan of great storytelling when it comes to television and film.

Architecture

Of course, in a town with two residences, there may not be much pent-up housing demand. "Road House" is said to be based on an actual case in Missouri where the local bad guy, universally hated by everyone in town, was murdered in broad daylight - and no one in town seems to have seen a thing. If that is the genesis for the story, everything else in it seems to have come from a cheerful willingness to go over the top in every way possible. Hence, a remake of the film, some might argue, is destined to be a pastiche of a pastiche. But as we move further into the 21st century, we find the notion of authenticity ever more devalued. Robert Oppenheimer of lunatic action set pieces (“The Bourne Identity,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “Edge of Tomorrow” to name a few).

He is approached by Frankie, the owner of an unruly roadhouse in the Florida Keys community of Glass Key, who offers him a job as head bouncer. Initially hesitant, Dalton takes up the offer after narrowly averting a suicide attempt with a freight train that destroys his car. He takes a bus to Frankie's establishment, called simply The Road House, and befriends Charlie, a teenager who runs a bookstore with her father, Stephen. The Schindler House is laid out as two interlinking L-shaped apartments (referred to as the Schindler and Chace apartments) using the basic design of the camp site that he had seen a year before.

Elizabeth arrives and reconciles with Dalton, but Wesley recovers and attempts to shoot him before being shot dead by the locals, including Emmett and Red. Sometime later, the modernized and refined Double Deuce bustles with customers while Dalton and Elizabeth swim together in a lake. One evening, the auto shop adjacent to the Double Deuce — owned by Elizabeth's uncle Red Webster — is destroyed in an arson attack. After Dalton and the crowds return inside the Double Deuce, they find Wesley awaiting them. He has his men fight Dalton's bouncers and damage the bar before agreeing to leave. Wesley sabotages other businesses as the local owners discuss their futile efforts to stop him.

Personalize your stream and start following your favorite authors, offices and users. Schindler's friend, partner and rival, Richard Neutra along with his wife Dione and son Frank lived in the Chace apartment from March 1925 until the summer of 1930. With Schindler as architect and Chace as builder to save costs, construction began in November 1921.

The original film was released in 1989, and proved a modest box office hit for Swayze (per Box Office Mojo). In the years since its release, however, "Road House" has become revered as a staple of the era as fans young and old continue to revel in its absurdist B-movie charms, with studio bosses no doubt looking to capitalize on its enduring popularity. At present, there aren't many concrete details surrounding the "Road House" reboot, but a few juicy nuggets are being dangled about the project. The center operates a residency program and exhibition space at the Mackey Apartments (R.M. Schindler, 1939) and runs more intimate programming at the Fitzpatrick-Leland House (R.M. Schindler, 1936) in Los Angeles. Troubled former UFC middleweight fighter Elwood Dalton makes a living scamming fighters on the underground circuit.

Garrett attempts to calm Dalton, trying to assuage his guilt about killing in self-defense and his frustration at being unable to end Wesley's campaign. Elizabeth also tries to dissuade Dalton from continuing before Emmett's home is blown up by Wesley's henchman Jimmy Reno. Although Emmett is saved, the enraged Dalton fights Reno and rips his throat out, much to Elizabeth's shock and disgust. James Dalton is a professional bouncer working security for a club in New York City. Although stoic and cool-headed, Dalton is tormented by memories of a man he killed in self-defense by ripping out his throat. Frank Tilghman, a businessman, recruits Dalton to take over security at his club "Double Deuce" in Jasper, Missouri.

Receiving a knife wound in the process, Dalton visits a hospital and befriends Dr. Elizabeth Clay to whom Wesley is also attracted. After sending his henchmen to unsuccessfully try to disrupt business at the Double Deuce, Wesley offers to hire Dalton himself. Dalton refuses and Wesley uses his connections to prevent the Double Deuce from purchasing alcohol from any suppliers. Dalton uses his own connections to secure some supplies and reunites with his mentor Wade Garrett, an aging bouncer. Wesley sends his men to destroy the Double Deuce's supplies, but Dalton and Garrett defeat them.

We are expected to believe that the sadist financed these hunting expeditions by shaking down the businesmen in a town that, on the visible evidence, contains a bar, a general store, a Ford dealership and two residences. "Road House" is the kind of movie that leaves reality so far behind that you have to accept it on its own terms. This movie delivers a lot of the same kicks as the first, but with contemporary tuneups like a villain played by Conor McGregor, the Ultimate Fighting Championship star who’s first seen stark naked, except for shoes and socks (so he can carry his phone). Though two hours long, the movie moves as swiftly as a greased ferret through a Habitrail and delivers hallucinatory action highs for its extended climax. Road House can sometimes be so bad it's good, but more often, the uneven acting and ridiculous story are just disappointing. As Frankie and Stephen begin to rebuild, Charlie says goodbye to Dalton as he waits for his bus out of town.

road house

Stephen discovers Dalton has left them the trunk of cash as the bus pulls away. In a mid-credits scene, Knox has survived and assaults the hospital staff, leaving in his gown. Frankie admits that Brandt has been buying up property to build an expensive resort, but she is the lone holdout. Dalton decides to leave town but discovers that Charlie and Stephen are in the hospital after Brandt's men burned down their bookstore. Enraged, Dalton kills one of the thugs responsible and captures a sheriff's deputy making a large delivery of Brandt's illicit cash, framing the deputy for the murder and taking the money. The sheriff soon informs Dalton that Brandt has kidnapped Ellie and will exchange her for the money.

That version of the film never really took shape, however, and the current iteration looks to be a more straightforward remake of the original. While the film is likely a long ways from heading before cameras, it seems MGM is hot to get the production off the ground. So much so, they're now meeting with writers to touch up a screenplay previously written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.

50 Christmas Nail Design Ideas To Show Off Your Holiday Spirit

One of the great things about having shorter nails is playing with delicate artwork that could otherwise get lost on longer lengths. Embrace the trend for microfine designs and opt for suitably summery motifs like wispy floral garlands and evil eyes. If you like your nail shape natural or even slightly squared off at the top, then there’s even more scope to use the free edge as part of your design.

This glittery set is still fairly subdued IMO, but if "more is more" is your vibe then def opt for a chrome effect by dusting on a gold chrome powder and a glossy top coat.

This design offers a glossy finish, perfect for reflecting the twinkling Christmas ornaments and the warm, gold Christmas lights. For a breathtaking holiday look, try embracing winter wonderland designs on your nails. So, whether you’re attending a work party or looking to add some seasonal flair to a more casual Christmas outfit, take a look at these 50 nail ideas that are as chic as they are festive. Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, everyone deserves to treat themselves to a seasonal mani. While the outside may be cold and gloomy, it’s also the perfect excuse to adorn your nails with a little extra sparkle. Nail artist @amyytran used the Shine & Bright collection from OPI to create this mistletoe-inspired manicure.

You can use it with any nail length, but remember to give the reindeer some space. Paint two coats of white polish (or until opaque), let it dry, and then dip your dotting tool in red nail polish then into a pattern on your nails. For the candy cane stripes, just brush on a few stripes with red polish and clean up any mishaps with a nail remover pen. Olive green, burgundy, ivory, gold—these are probably the fall nail shades you relied on last season. But when paired together, they make a super pretty and surprisingly toned-down Christmas manicure. And if you’re not feeling up to precise nail art today (relatable), skip the work and instead paint each nail a different shade.

If you’re not a fan of penguins, it would also work with a reindeer, a gingerbread man, Santa, an elf… anything you want, really! By keeping the art to one nail, the design remains simple but with some personality thrown into it. Some employers are strict and don’t want you wearing bold makeup looks, nail styles, or even hairstyles. But don’t worry, simple nail colors don’t have to be boring! Usually in these cases, wearing nude colors is perfectly acceptable, so why not add a little detail? Perfect for when you’re at work and for when you’re not, this design adds a cute Christmas symbol to a single nail while the rest are plain.

Plus, it has a fair amount of different colors so you can mix and match a variety of outfits. Over the past few years, Frozen has become many kid’s favorite. This nail shows a delighted Olaf and snowflakes everywhere, and it’s stunningly cute.

Top off a classic red manicure with gold accents for festive flair. To make your manicure last longer, go the gel manicure route. Here, nail artist Elizabeth M uses a range of bright and cheery colors to bring the festive cheer. Follow Issey Sapiens' lead by painting a white ombre base on each nail before adding detailed snowflakes. If you're dreaming of a white Christmas, these nails are the perfect way to manifest it.

Front Yard Landscaping Ideas

There's also a variety of approaches and ideas for different space sizes and shapes, for different climates, different soil situations, for sun and shade, and for beauty in all four seasons. A congenial grouping of perennials and annuals dresses up a narrow flower bed in this front yard. A no-maintenance garden doesn’t mean the plantings have to be boring.

Make Long-Term Plans for Trees

'This creates a softer, more pleasing effect which links the house to the landscape,' says garden designer James Scott. This front garden, designed by James Scott, complements the home's Edwardian architecture, continuing and softening its geometric lines with neatly clipped evergreen hedges. We love the addition of a luscious lawn here, too – it's always a soothing sight and a great way to utilize a larger space at the front of a house.

Put Up a Fence

Plant with alpines and low-growing succulents for year-round interest. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need lush front yard landscaping to make a statement. It is also important that you know how to plant climbing roses and how to prune climbing roses to ensure you have a stupendous display.

Pair pavers with pockets of plants

Other than improving your home’s curb appeal, landscaping lights offer a sense of security by illuminating the entry points. They boost the curb appeal of your home and create the perception that you have invested in the care and maintenance of your property. Mix the perennial shrubs with annuals to create an all-season landscape. If you are looking to add some privacy in your yard, consider a buffer of shrubs, suggests Winslow. “A buffer that includes multiple plants at varying heights can accomplish the same thing as a solid hedge or a fence but is far more welcoming,” says Winslow. Alternatively, if you are just trying to block the view from a particular room—or a part of your yard from your neighbors—plant a couple of trees or shrubs with strategic precision.

Impressive Hardscape

The lines of the low boxwood hedge echo the architecture of the porch and lend an air of formality. Small trees can echo pillars on a porch, for example, or use a water feature based on the shape of one of your home's architectural elements. Pack a small front yard with medium-sized plants to help shield the home from street noise. Growing a variety of plants makes the yard look larger by giving your eye more textures, colors, and shapes. Transform your front walk into a stylish statement by edging it in easy-care plants such as variegated hosta and boxwood.

Pebbles and Plantings

White structures stand out even more against colorful flowers and a nonwhite home. Many homeowners think of their front yard as one band of land between the sidewalk and the home. However, you can make landscape magic by breaking it up with perpendicular plantings. Although they don’t necessarily need to match, your front yard and backyard need to have some design thread running through them to feel intentional and stylized. If you don't have easy access to a power supply in your front garden, then consider adding a few solar lights to provide a soft glow at night.

Stone pavers act as edging to keep loose gravel inside path boundaries. A collection of walkway planters at the end of the path helps create a sense of destination. Take a leisurely stroll down a path that ends with a quiet nook for reading and relaxing. Pavers set in a slight variation in pattern—edging bricks are positioned horizontally, and walkway bricks are nestled vertically—create visual interest in the walkway.

Arrange the plants in irregular dense groups, leaving a meandering path to the front door. The beauty of this style of planting is that it needs little attention, and the effect constantly changes throughout the year. Taller grasses such as (Stipa gigantea) and Chinese silver grass (Miscanthus sinensis) also form an attractive screen, handy for extra privacy.

A minimalistic or simple front yard fits well with a contemporary house. Grow plants with spiky leaves or sculptural forms and use concrete or other modern-looking containers. Instead of lantern-shaped lights along a walkway, add a glow with outdoor rope lights or choose sleek mounted lighting for a wall.

Even better, they come in different colors, so you can choose the ones that match your home style. Stick the lights along the walkway and flowerbeds, and let them light up your home at night. Mulch as edging gives the garden beds a tidy appearance, while plants supply a mix of textures and varying shades of green. Plant a variety of evergreens to keep your yard looking classically beautiful through all the seasons. Instead of depending on edging such as mulch that needs to be replaced every season, slim stones provide a solid boundary.

Larger pavers dramatically mark the end of the path, leading to a pergola and restful chair. A cascading collection of yellow, deep pink, and purple flowers softens the walkway and plays with the muted brick color. Unobtrusive in scale and structure, two trees flank on either side of the path, creating privacy and coziness. Large swaths of stout perennials, including hostas and coneflowers, ensure plenty of color and texture.

Planted close to the house, the outer branches are grown to radiate out from an upright trunk, at regular intervals, either horizontally or at a 45-degree angle. As the framework of the design is evergreen, the garden looks great throughout the year with glamorous blooms popping up to make seasonal guest appearances. The pair of tall, glazed planters on either side of the door, planted with delicate miniature pink roses, make a gorgeous addition. They work beautifully alongside a potted hydrangea and purple clematis. The existing front wall was replaced with more delicate iron railings that add character while keeping security levels up. The matching garden gate makes the perfect finishing touch to mark the plot's boundary.

Tried and true elements form the backbone of this quintessentially designed path and flowerbed. Understated lights accent the path's traditional herringbone pattern. Creeping thyme between pavers adds a wonderful scent when its leaves are stepped on. Irregularly spaced and sized flagstones boost the garden's carefree nature.

Soft, swaying grasses such as molinia and Stipa gigantea will add movement and height whilst still letting light flood through. Weave in late-summer-flowering gaura, achillea, and Verberna bonariensis for extra dashes of color. This design by The Garden Builders is a stunning example with a cool palette of gray appearing in the slate paving, path edging, stone chippings, and exterior paintwork. Cubes of planting include neatly-clipped box and silver-leaved lavender, with a standard bay taking center stage. In front gardens, where perhaps appearances matter most, it's worth seeking out a design and finish that complements your property's exterior and any existing planting that you wish to keep. Always a winning combo, clipped topiary and straight intersecting paths create a smart yet elegant impression.
